Again with the Noodles

October 19th, 2007 · No Comments · sounds

This is a sample of the 6o’s Gibson Skylark (GA-5 Crestline).

Again, just aimless noodling, to demonstrate the sweet spot. I didn’t try to cover the neck, just capture that mid area. This was recorded through the built in mic on the Zoom PS-04 with no effects whatsoever. I did have to boost the volume with audacity, but only because that mic can’t take too much before it clips.

The amp has one knob, volume, which was set to 5. The guitar is an Epiphone Les Paul (bone stock except for a Gibson truss rod cover .. weird). Rhythm pick up and dialed way down on tone and volume. It has shitty D’addario 10′s on it.

Still.. it really gives you a hint of the creamy goodness that comes out of this amp at lower volumes. What you don’t hear (and won’t until I buy a decent mic) is the sustain… it’s there and it lasts a long time.
