As usual, this is a no effects sample through the PS-04′s built in condenser mic. This is with a standard strat, bridge pickup and elixir 11′s. Amp on 8, pickup volume full, but I did back off the tone a smidge.

The clipping and compression should be mostly amp (I dialed carefully to take the mic out of the equation).

I like the attack (esp. in the second part) but that should not be mistaken for classic ‘sag’ as I am using a Weber CopperCap Rectifier but I do think I hear some sag, just not the full overwhelmend 6X4 sag this amp would normally produce.

More on sag later, but here is the clip : Power Chords

This is a sample of the 6o’s Gibson Skylark (GA-5 Crestline).

Again, just aimless noodling, to demonstrate the sweet spot. I didn’t try to cover the neck, just capture that mid area. This was recorded through the built in mic on the Zoom PS-04 with no effects whatsoever. I did have to boost the volume with audacity, but only because that mic can’t take too much before it clips.

The amp has one knob, volume, which was set to 5. The guitar is an Epiphone Les Paul (bone stock except for a Gibson truss rod cover .. weird). Rhythm pick up and dialed way down on tone and volume. It has shitty D’addario 10′s on it.

Still.. it really gives you a hint of the creamy goodness that comes out of this amp at lower volumes. What you don’t hear (and won’t until I buy a decent mic) is the sustain… it’s there and it lasts a long time.

This is a bit of artless noodling I’ve done just to demonstrate the sound of the 3350LT amp.

This is 2/3 gain 2/3 tone and direct in to a Zoom PS04 dry. Ibanez SZ520, bridge pickup, wide open. No effects whatsoever.

The nice thing is, the sound is just a bit warmer coming out of the speaker, but you can dial any volume and get nearly the same tone (modulo speaker interaction).

It’s a 1.5 meg mp3
